After a shocker day of sizzling action in the Premier League, shocking (and honestly immensely intriguing) transfer news indicates that Harry Kane has officially left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich; while Fred has left Manchester United for Fenerbahce. As if the gods were waiting for the very last moments to cast the die, both the English Premier League and Bundesliga are in for major upheavals.

Harry Kane’s Transfer to Bayern Munich

There had been wind that Harry Kane could leave Tottenham this transfer window but I thought “Nooo… Kane is too important for Tottenham to let go!” I was wrong. Harry Kane has now officially switched teams and leagues, now heading to the Bundesliga to play for Bayern Munich.

The Money Bug

Harry Kane’s transfer fee is speculated to be between 100 and 120 million Euros. This gigantic fee, it seems, is the reason why Tottenham caved in and let their cornerstone player go. It affirms that in professional soccer, money will always tilt a club’s fortunes (pun intended) and could be the difference between glory and sheer doom.

Dynamic Duo Broken

The thing that struck me first on hearing the news was that the “Dynamic Duo” - Kane and Son - had been broken. “How on earth is Son going to go on without Harry?” I thought. Harry and Son have for the longest time held each other strong as Tottenham turned into a rotten log of a team. Kane most definitely stayed for as long as he did in Tottenham partly due to how well he synced with Son. Now he’s gone and Son is left to pick up the pieces.. literally.

Tottenham Name Son Heung-Min as their New Captain

As if to make the transfer sting more, the management at Tottenham decided to make Son the team’s captain, replacing Harry. Son is a phenomenal player and there’s no doubt that he’ll be an impeccable captain, but he’s not Harry. Not in a bad way, don’t get me wrong but because he, until now, has depended on Kane for leadership and support in striking.

Fred Leaves Man United for Fenerbahce

For a good 12.9 million Euros, my club Manchester United has let Fred go and transferred him to Fenerbahce. Fred was many things to United but at the very core, he was the defensive support, and the utter opposite of Maguire, i.e. dependable, cautious, precise, tactical, and a strong defensive player. Man United losing Fred is very much a huge bet as, I think we all agree, United need him today as much as they did back in the days of Ole Gunnar.
