Why I am Following My Own Path in Life and Why You Should Too

The life of a dreamer has never been easy, and that is part of what fuels one’s drive.

Why I am Following My Own Path in Life and Why You Should Too

After a year like 2020, I think we all have learned a lesson or two about being your own boss and following your own path. It sounds too good to be true, but you can and should strive to be your own boss. In my experience, working for someone can be good and can pay really well. However, at the end of the day, you are helping someone else build their own empire when you could be building yours.

I know we all have bills to pay, and anyone who is not a child has them. Despite that, the most important thing is to find a way to build something for yourself, beyond and away from what you could be doing for others. It sounds selfish and illogical to not work for others but trust me; it is far more fulfilling.

My Experience from When I Used To Do Online Work

I cleared school in 2019, and even while I was still in university, I would do online work, and it did pay well. It was, however, unstable and unsustainable. During high season, online work can pay really well given you work as hard as possible. Unfortunately, when it is low season, you can bear the brunt of being broke, and it can be a very demeaning experience.

Seeking a Challenge in Your Career

Such cyclic work, in my view, is not the way to go. It is a good way to start something and learn more about many things, but it lacks the satisfaction that following your own path would bring. The same holds for other jobs where one is not passionate about what they are doing but is only working there for pay or to satisfy the demands of undesirable circumstances.

Changing Perspective: Seeing Yourself from Where You Want to Be

Looking at life from the view of who you are and who you want to be, doesn’t it make more sense to follow your own path? Wouldn’t you rather be happy, even if not earning as much, and create something for yourself and owned by yourself? Even the smallest of empires can grow into a humongous one.

The Importance of Good Honest Effort

Even the littlest effort can prove life-changing for what you as an individual are trying to achieve. It is very satisfying how even the smallest effort is so fulfilling when you are working for yourself. I mean no disrespect to those who wake up every day and turn up to jobs and do their best to get by. I respect that. I really do, and if you feel that’s what you need to do and are satisfied with living like that, then that is okay.

The Heartbreak of Losing Your Job

Jobs are good but can be so heartbreaking, especially when one loses them. A job is like being on a train, doing all you can to give your best, and expecting something good at the end of the month. However, when one falls off that train, then you don’t know where to start.

You are left like a rained-on puppy who cannot fend for itself. The point is, yes, do your job, and be employed but also create your own empire. Have something that you can call your own at the end of the day.

The Importance of Starting Your Own Business

Have a business that is your baby, and give it as much as you can. You never know. You could end up having a multi-million dollar business after years of arduous work. You would not only have created something amazing, but you will also be happy and satisfied. What is the point of giving your all anyway if someone else is reaping all the benefits at the end of the day? Again, if you want a car, a house, and a monthly salary, be my guest.

Seeking Satisfaction by Following Your Own Path

Following your path and following your passion can be one of the most satisfying ways to spend your best years. I know that sounds like being a dreamer, but what is wrong with wanting more? Why not live your best life even if you have to struggle at first? Why not start today and, despite going through a rough patch, have something that is wholly yours?

The Importance of Dreaming Big

I mean, you may be getting a $1,000 cheque from your job, but have you ever thought about $1,000,000? Have you felt the fire of being a dreamer, of wanting your own empire? I have, and I can tell you that it beats any job. I wake up every day not knowing what article I will write or what song will come to my mind. Every day is an adventure of self-discovery and learning that I can be more, much more.

Are you following your own path?

Self-Motivation and Why It is Important

I draw so much satisfaction from being my own pilot and steering my own ship. I don’t want what everyone else wants. To me, having a car is good, but it is not worth taking a loan for. Lord knows I would want my own house, but I don’t think a mortgage would be the way to go. What formal jobs do is, in a way, trap you. They allow you to take 30-year-long loans only to own a vehicle or house.

Living With Less to Ensure You Support Your Dream

To me, that beats all logic. Why not use public transport and work hard to one day own your own car and house upright? Why peg your earnings to someone else cutting the cheque? In my view, it is better to build your own small hut and live in it while following your passion than to have a 30-year mortgage that you would be unable to finance without a formal job. What if you got sacked and lost your house?

Choosing Your Own Lifestyle

The life of a dreamer has never been easy, and that is part of what fuels one’s drive. If I were in an office somewhere, I would be writing financial statements and periodicals for a company that would do just as well in my absence. I would be trapped within a lifestyle that is not my own while trying to satisfy or fit the idea of what it means to be a working man.

Why You Need to Be Smart

Being a man is not only working hard, but it is also being smart about how you work. Build yourself, find your niche and let the world marvel at your success. Others may find it illogical and out of touch with reality but follow your own path. Live your life the way you want it, and do not let anyone tell you what to do with your life.

The Struggle of Becoming

My life as a dreamer and while following my own path has had numerous challenges. However, this does not badger me. I feel stronger every time I struggle or when I cannot afford something. Why bother to buy a car when one day I can own the whole dealership? I don’t want only to buy cars every few years. I want the dealership. Hell, I want to make my own car. That’s the kind of thinking that will get you somewhere.

Why It's Important to Build Your Own

I know and appreciate that one can be passionate about corporate life, and I respect that. If you want to be in an office, instead of becoming the CEO of that company, build your own company and buy it. Don’t spend decades trying to get a promotion when you can start from scratch as the CEO of your own company. Think big but also buy that big idea and become the boss.

Why It Is Important to Hustle by Working For Yourself

You only have one life to live, and to be honest, 10 or 20 years of your life are too many to give to a company or individual who will, in the end, end up richer, more out of touch with what it means to work and employing more and more people. Life is too short not to follow your own path. Do you want to be in the Top 30 under 30, or do you want to be in the Forbes list of Top 30 Richest? Make your choice. For me, I want to top that list.

How Jeff Bezos Became the Richest Man in the World

Jeff Bezos started a small online shop to sell books and is today the boss of the juggernaut that is Amazon. How unfortunate would it have been if he got a job somewhere and helped them create an online shop for themselves?

He would probably have ended up as a manager somewhere in a company that means little to him. Think of the opportunity cost of not following your dreams. How many billions will you lose? I bet the answer is much more than you would gain as an employee. Don’t let employment use you; use employment to build your own company.

The Beautiful Vibes of Following Your Own Path

I am following my path, and each day I get a step closer. I am pursuing music, and I may not be the best or even be that good at it, but I will strive on. I will give it my best, and despite anything anyone says or does, I will live my own life my way. I will put God first and keep those who support me close. I will create a hell of a vibe with my music, and 30 years down the line, I will draw so much happiness from knowing that I gave my best years to what I love.

Be an outlier and not another product of the factory that we call life.

Follow Your Dreams and Be an Outlier

We should all be doers, and we should always go after what we want and explain ourselves later. The truth is only you will be able to see your dream as a whole, and it will only completely make sense to you. Everyone else will not really see why you need to follow your own path.

However, go after your dreams, be happy, and decades later, you will leave this world happy after you are in your sunset years. You will know deep down that you did it. Money or no money, you will have achieved your dreams. To me, that is the entire point of living. Be an outlier and not another product of the factory that we call life.
