After almost being disappointed, Man United fans got a reprieve after a Varane header salvaged the match for the "Red Devils"

Manchester United fans, including myself, had very high hopes that the squad would give Wolves a day to forget and do it with four goals or more. We were, however, almost disappointed after Man United seemed to lose their form in their first half, as the game went for halftime with a 0-0 scoreline.

Things, however, took a turn for the better after Varane, who’d put in a good effort in the first half, came back after the break baying for blood. He went on to convert a wonderful volley from Wan-Bissaka to make it 1-0 for Man United. Varane scored his goal in the 76th minute. His quick reaction was key after Wan-Bissaka made a very thoughtful volley to him, with Varane shooting into the box to deliver his golden header.

New Man Utd Keeper Onana after De Gea Departure

Man United signed a new keeper, Andre Onana, from Inter Milan who played in their game against Wolves. Onana replaces David De Gea, who left the club last month after failing to agree on terms of a contract extension with the club. De Gea left a legendary keeper, after being with the club for 12 years and appearing in 545 matches for United.

Onana’s debut went well as he was instrumental in keeping Wolves’ attacks at bay, especially in the first half. His prowess was very exciting to see as we’d known, for a while before his departure, that David De Gea hadn’t had much longer to be in shape or form to be the goalkeeper Manchester United can rely on long-term.

Mason Mount Missing In Action

New Man United signing, Mason Mount, who United signed from Chelsea was missing in action during their game with Wolves, despite getting a chance to be on the pitch and make his debut at the club. Mount had no assists, no crosses, scored no goals, and created no chances. It was a dim start for the 60 million Euro signee, who fans and the club alike have pegged their high hopes on.

Bruno Fernandes the New Captain for United

Bruno Fernandes was last month named the new Manchester United captain and for once, the mate at the helm feels right. Bruno replaces a clueless Harry Maguire, who we’d really complained about and lamented on just how poorly he was playing and leading the team. With Bruno at the helm, however, I think we can expect a stronger Man Utd, and a very entertaining season ahead.

New Coach for Wolves

Wolves, on their part, had a phenomenal first half, bringing the heat to Manchester United’s box. The team recently appointed Gary O’Neil, 40, as their new manager, making him one of the youngest managers to be at the helm of the team, and the first permanent British manager in 6 years. O’Neil has his work cut out for him and going by Wolves’ performance in the first half yesterday, he sure knows what he’s doing.
