Olivia is a huge Hollywood star and the news of her sneaking around with a married man risks tanking her upcoming movie.

The Valet Movie Review

The Valet is a 2022 movie about a valet, Antonio, who is recruited to play the role of a famous actress’s boyfriend. Actress Olivia Allan is having an affair with Billionaire Real Estate Developer Vincent and they hitch a plan to hire Antonio as the pretend boyfriend. The Valet is directed by Richard Wong and produced by Eugenio Derbez.

What a Catch!

Antonio, played by Eugenio Derbez, is your everyday Latino; lower middle-income class, lives with his mom and is very close to his extended family, and divorced in his late forties. He rides a bike to and from work and gets in an accident where he bumps into Olivia, played by Samara Weaving, and Vincent, played by Max Greenfield, with the three appearing in a photo in the press alleging that Olivia and Vincent are dating. Vincent is a married man and to spin the story and fool the media, the duo decides to hire the third person in the photo as the pretend boyfriend and that happens to be our man, Antonio.

Big Hollywood Star

Olivia is a huge Hollywood star and the news of her sneaking around with a married man risks tanking her upcoming movie. The tabloids already have a picture of her and Vincent and when he comes up with the idea to hire the pretend boyfriend, she quickly accepts.

Different Worlds

Antonio lives in a different world. He only parks cars for the wealthy but is himself an average Joe living a simple life. Olivia is unimpressed at first but she quickly warms up to his way of life. She gains a new perspective of the world and what’s really important in life.

Love and Family

Despite Olivia being a huge celebrity, she is not in touch with her family. She almost never spends time with her family and is in an unhealthy relationship with Vincent, a married man. Her life is in tatters despite all the success and glam and contrasts heavily with Antonio’s. Antonio is surrounded by family and his loved ones despite being separated from his wife, Isabel, played by Marisol Nichols.

Isabel

Isabel ditches Antonio essentially because he’s a dud and ‘has no game’. She’s quickly attracted to him again when she thinks he’s scored a huge Hollywood actress in Olivia; only to ditch him again when she discovers that they are only playing pretend.

He’s Not Worth It

Vincent’s wife, Kathryn, played by Betsy Brandt, and heiress to the company he runs, has been suspecting that he and Olivia were having an affair. She is first proven wrong but insists that something must be going on. Olivia, on her part, realizes that Vincent does not deserve her for he’s a cheat. She and Vincent’s wife collaborate and catch him red-handed. They also discover that he’s been embezzling funds from his wife’s dad’s company and he ends up getting arrested. Antonio and Olivia become good friends and he goes on to have a spark with one of his friends.

Our Rating

The Valet movie is a wonderful and humorous movie about the important things in life. It’s also the last movie that casts actress Carmen Salinas who plays Cecilia, Antonio’s mother. Ms. Salinas passed on in early December last year and we send our condolences to her family, friends, and fans. She was a wonderful actress and brought such natural happiness to The Valet movie. May her Soul Rest in Eternal Peace. Needless to say, we rate the movie 8/10 and it’s a complete joy to watch. Enjoy and stay tuned for more Movie Reviews.
