The EPL Returns with Strong Opens from Man United, Man City, and Liverpool

Today’s game will see Southampton face off with Manchester United. Wolves will face Tottenham, Arsenal will face Chelsea and Leicester City will go against West Ham.

The EPL Returns with Strong Opens from Man United, Man City, and Liverpool

The English Premier League (EPL) is back and it's back with a bang. The league is not only back but has also allowed fans in the stadiums after a long bout of their absence due to COVID-19. The EPL is set to be a spectacle this season as it comes at a time when the league is as competitive as ever. The league introduced a new entrant, Brentford, alias ‘The Bees’. We think that is ‘Beeyoutiful’, to say the least.

It is always good to see new teams get out of the divisions and bring competition to the EPL. The EPL is currently in the second week with a resounding 5-0 win by Man City against Norwich. Liverpool beat Burnley 2-0. Aston Villa also beat Newcastle 2-0. Crystal Palace drew with Brentford, and Brighton & Hove Albion beat Watford 2-0 as well.

Man City Finally Break Winless Deadlock

Manchester City won the EPL last season but had 3 consecutive losses before today’s win. The team also signed Jack Grealish at a record sum of $139 million or 100 million pounds making him the most expensive player in EPL history. Man City were unable to purchase Lionel Messi as PSG made a better bid and also had players that Messi was familiar playing with. These include the likes of Neymar, Sergio Ramos, and Angel di Maria.

Man City are still in the Market for a Striker

Despite not being able to attract Messi to the club, probably also because Paris is a better fit for the former Barcelona player, Man City are still in the market for a striker. There have been rumors that they may offer a bid to buy Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, even as Pep Guardiola did not want to speculate during a recent press conference.

Will Robert Lewandowski Join Manchester City?

Lewandowski is looking for a “new challenge” and Man City may be just the team he is looking for, or rather, is looking for him. Manchester City have had quite a rough start to the season after a 1-0 loss to Leicester in the FA Community Shield final, followed by a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur during their EPL Opener in Week 1. Despite this, they are the defending champions and yesterday’s game was a resounding win for them and to be honest, a little flex of the muscle. The quality of Manchester City is unrivaled, as is their big bank account.

A Strong Start for Liverpool in the 2021-22 Season

Liverpool started this season strongly with a 3-0 win against Norwich City and today’s 2-0 win against Burnley. Jurgen Klopp’s team is set to be a major contender this season, especially with rising stars like Diogo Jota who scored in both matches, and the likes of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Mohammed Salah made history as the only player to score a goal in five EPL season openers. Liverpool also retained their defense powerhouse Virgil Van Dijk and can be somewhat assured that their defense won’t be porous. Nevertheless, the team should really bring their A game and inspire their players and fans like they did two seasons ago, leading up to their momentous league win.

A Shockingly Good Brentford FC

Brentford FC have been somewhat of a shocker this season. They started the season by whipping Arsenal 2-0, a fantastic Premier League entry and a game that the fans will hold dear. The team, however, slumped yesterday with a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. The team is full of fervor and could be inspired enough to make a mark on the league this season.

Arsenal’s loss in their league opener was a huge disappointment for their fans, including Rwandan President Paul Kagame. Arsenal started last season on a low note, even though they improved as time went by. It is really crucial that they do something or Mikel Arteta and his boys may end up as a team to walk over the entire season.

Manchester United Thrill Fans in their Season-Opening Game

Manchester United were a ball to watch in their first game of the season. The ‘Red Devils’ gave the fans a game to remember with their 5-1 win against Leeds United. The game saw Bruno Fernandes score a hat-trick and Mason Greenwood make his presence felt in the team. Manchester United started just as well last season but fell through as the season drew to a close, handing Manchester City the cup.

Does United have What it Takes to Win EPL 21/22?

Man United have the potential and the players to mount a strong campaign but again, may lack the fervor to really get the boys fired up and giving their all. Their season opener was preceded by social media calls for the team’s manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to be sacked but it seems Ole could stay. At least the 5-1 win was something that ensures that and shows that he still has a card up his sleeve.

A Possibly Thrilling EPL Season - EPL 21/22

The current English Premier League season is one to watch, as are most, and despite the raging pandemic, could be one for the books. The COVID-19 pandemic has been disastrous for football and has already begun impacting the league. Arsenal’s captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was diagnosed with COVID together with his four teammates, a development that will further lower the quality of Arsenal’s campaign in the immediate games to come.
