The EPL has Roared Back into Action with Wins for Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City

The EPL is back finally and the league has rolled back into action with wins for Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City in gameweek 1 of 38. Things look thick, however, for Manchester United, after they lost their first game of the league this season; a terrible sign for the season to come.

Arsenal Beats Crystal Palace

Arsenal started quite well in EPL 2022/23 with a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace. Arsenal showed good form, even though they could have done better. Crystal Palace, on their part, started this season on a low, setting precedent for a terrible season.

Liverpool Draws Fulham

Perhaps the most disappointing game this weekend was Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Fulham. No disrespect to Fulham but Liverpool is no team to be drawing with anyone during the first game of the season, least of all a bottom-half team such as Fulham. Jurgen Klopp has quite a way to go and if he’s keen on another UCL and EPL finals, he needs to have his boys playing on a high of morale and adrenaline.

Bournemouth Beats Aston Villa

In an unlikely turn of events, Bournemouth beat Aston Villa 2-0, after an impressive display of grit and morale. Bournemouth were not phased by their performance last season and chose to give Aston Villa a run for their money. It’s also crucial that teams that ordinarily do poorly scrape as many points as they can as soon as possible.

Newcastle Welcomes Nottingham Forest to the EPL with a Thrashing

Newcastle welcomed newly-promoted Nottingham Forest to the English Premier League with a 2-0 thrashing. Nottingham Forest, denoted Nottm Forest, didn’t play badly at all and are likely to perform as well as Brentford did last season.

Tottenham again Causing Trouble Barely a Week into the New Season

Tottenham continued last season’s offense by opening the EPL 22/23 with a 4-1 thrashing of Southampton. Tottenham are taking no hostages and we expect that Antonio Conte’s magic could see them get to the top four. We are also very keen on seeing whether Son Heung-Ming or Harry Kane will win the golden boot this season.

Leeds United Overpowers Wolves

Leeds United proved too difficult for Wolves after they beat Wolves 2-1. For a team of their stature, Leeds did a wonderful job showing Wolves that nothing is given. Wolves on their part may have a shaky season if they do not bring their A-game.

Chelsea Barely Beats Everton

Chelsea barely beat Everton after the Blues only managed to score a single goal and take the game home 1-0 against Everton. This result is worrying and you are left wondering whether it shows how good Everton could get or how bad Chelsea have become. Either way, for a team eyeing prowess both in the EPL and UCL, Chelsea need to pull up their socks.

Brentford Hold Leicester City to a Draw

Brentford continued their impressive run with a 2-2 draw with Leicester City. Brentford are now sharp enough to really contend in the EPL and any team should be wary of their sting. Leicester, on the other hand, is far from the Leicester City of Jamie Vardy’s captaincy.

Brighton beat a Poor Manchester United

Brighton edged past Manchester United after beating them 2-1. Even worse, United’s goal was an own goal by Brentford, and Man United couldn’t even get past the net in an outright way.

What’s Wrong with Manchester United?

What is ailing United is a lot more than the effects of years of bad leadership under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but more of a systemic lack of leadership. A perfect example is when Cristiano Ronaldo walked out on the team and left the stadium. That cannot and should not happen regardless of how big a player is or thinks he is.

Will Cristiano Leave Man United?

We honestly think Ronaldo should leave Manchester United. Not that he’s not a good player but because he feels he’s too big for the club. As a Man United fan, I am enraged that a player of his prowess could end up becoming dead weight and baggage. If CR7 wants to leave, let him. And sadly no team wants or feels that they could afford him. He’s a hot bullet and nobody seems to want to bite.

Manchester City Shine on West Ham

Manchester City shone on West Ham 2-0 with their new signing Erling Haaland scoring both goals. We wrote about the most exciting and most debilitating transfers ahead of EPL 22/23 and I must say that Haaland was the best choice City could have made.

Erling Haaland’s Future in Manchester City

With such impressive skills and a portrayal of prowess, Haaland could be monumentally successful in Man City. He checks all the boxes of becoming a great player as he’s young, quick, a converter, and a skillful goal scorer. We wish him all the best and can’t wait to see him develop goal-scoring chemistry with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish.
