‘The Crown’ Wins Big at the Emmys 2021

TV Series, ‘The Crown’, won big at the Emmys 2021 after scooping seven awards at the TV awards. The Crown, a portrayal of the British Royal Family under the reign of Queen Elizabeth, took away the night in an Emmys that saw Netflix scoop the most awards at 44, including two for ‘The Queen’s Gambit’. Netflix has shown that streaming services are slowly becoming the staple, leading traditional content producers to up their game and join the streaming bandwagon. Other notable streaming providers that won awards include Apple TV+ whose ‘Ted Lasso’ scooped four awards. The awards were fantastic even as actor Seth Rogen caused some drama by citing a lack of sensitivity to COVID-19 protocols.

The Crown Bags the Highest Number of Awards at the Emmys 2021

The Crown took home the most awards at the Emmys 2021 after winning Best Drama Series, Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Josh O’Connor, and Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Olivia Colman. Other awards for The Crown included Best Drama Series Directing for Jessica Hobbs, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Tobias Menzies, Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Gillian Anderson, and Best Drama Series Writing for Peter Morgan. The Crown did phenomenally well, showing how well it was written, directed, and acted. It is so good that people have been asking whether it shows the actual real-life occurrences in the British Monarchy, and the extent to which it shares true stories if any.

Netflix's The Queen's Gambit, Hacks, and Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso also Bag Emmys

Netflix’s other winner was The Queen’s Gambit. The TV series won Best Limited Series and Best Limited Series/TV Movie Directing for Scott Frank. The Queen’s Gambit is an intricate portrayal of a ‘from rags to riches’ story of an orphan girl who achieves the moniker of ‘Chess Queen’, despite all odds. Apple TV+ was not left behind, as its TV Series, Ted Lasso, went home with four accolades including Best Comedy Series and Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jason Sudeikis.

Ted Lasso also bagged Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Brett Goldstein and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hannah Waddingham. ‘Hacks’ another comedy TV series took home the Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Jean Smart.
