Should Manchester United Sack Their Manager

Manchester United are between a rock and a hard place. At the fifteenth place in the English Premier League table after game week 7, the red devils need a miracle to close the gap with league leaders Liverpool. At 7 points in the league standings, Manchester United could be suffering the consequence of bad management. Game week 7 saw Manchester United beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford by Arsenal.

After a slip-up from Paul Pogba, Pierre-Aubameyang had an opening to score Arsenal’s only goal in the game. The 3-point loss widened the gap for Manchester United, who are continually lagging behind in the league table.

Ole Fails to Invigorate United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently the manager at Manchester United and was appointed as a caretaker manager in 2018 after the sacking of Jose Mourinho. Solskjaer was later appointed the manager in March 2019 and took permanent charge.

Ole has had quite a tumultuous time in Manchester United and was recently dealt a blow when the club failed to sign Jadon Sancho from Borrusia Dortmund. Ole has done a considerably good job but has failed to invigorate Manchester United into the glory of its yesteryears. Manchester United finished third in the 2019/2020 season and had struggled to go up further than fifth place in the league table.

Ole Gunnar Forces Lukaku's Transfer Out of Manchester United

Ole has been touted as lacking the gusto needed to lead Manchester United to a premier league victory. After taking over from Jose Mourinho, Ole has had a tough time getting the club to top form. Manchester United had to sell one of their strikers Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on a five-year deal after disagreements with Ole. Lukaku felt that he was not picked enough, and his style of play did not align with Ole’s requirements and style. Lukaku could not train and wanted to leave.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Wanted Lukaku to Leave

Ole also wanted him to leave, and Inter Milan agreed to buy the player for a hefty 74 million euros as Lukaku only wanted Inter Milan. He has done well in Inter Milan, even though he will currently miss their next match due to an injury. However, Manchester United has a strong team with young players, including the philanthropist Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire as captain, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Bruno Fernandes, among many others. The team recently signed Edison Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain. Cavani may, however, struggle to have an impact on Manchester United, given the young players in the squad.

Manchester United Need an Experienced and Inspired Manager

Jadon Sancho would have been a tremendous player for Manchester United and would have been just what the team needs to stir up its winning ways. A new manager could probably inspire change, but Manchester United, as one of the big five clubs in English football, needs an experienced and inspired manager.

In game week 8, United will face Everton under manager Carlo Ancelloti, who has revved up the likes of Calvert Lewin, who is currently the player with the most goals at 8 goals so far this season. Jose Mourinho is currently at Tottenham Hotspur, and the team recently signed Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, who scored their winning goal in their 2-1 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Man Utd May Need More than a New Manager

Manchester United may need more than a new manager to get a league win, and as a Manchester United fan myself, nobody really knows what that is. Manchester United has become one of those teams with so much winning tradition that it lacks hunger for the league trophy. Maybe, United is just too big and has won the cup too many times to want it as bad as Leicester, for instance.

Manchester United is considered the most successful team in the English Premier League, having won the trophy 13 times. It was also the first club to win the league three times in a row, a feat that is not likely to happen under Solskjaer. The team won all 13 times under Sir Alex Ferguson, who was to Manchester United what Arsene Wenger is to Arsenal, a legend and arguably the only manager who can claim to be the G.O.A.T or greatest of all time.
