Manchester United thrashes Arsenal as Man City Draw Aston Villa + EPL GW 6 Results

Gameweek 6 of the English Premier League was nothing short of interesting as Manchester United thrashed Arsenal and Manchester City drew Aston Villa. The league has been suspended for a fortnight due to the Queen’s passing but let us look back at Gameweek 6 of EPL 2022/23 and see what went down.

Man United Thrashes Arsenal

Manchester United continued their short-lived winning streak as they thrashed Arsenal 3-1. United showed form and morale against an Arsenal that was more confused on the pitch than they were focused. Thanks to a goal from new signing Antony and a brace from fan-favorite Marcus Rashford, United managed to thrash an Arsenal that was seeming to try to uplift itself from an otherwise weak and stale run. Arsenal’s lone goal was scored by Bukayo Saka. United then went on to be beaten 0-1 by Real Sociedad in the Europa League. Sociedad’s goal came from Brais Mendez.

Man City Draw Aston Villa

Perhaps the most shocking result of GW 6 of the EPL, Manchester City drew Aston Villa 1-1. City’s beautiful run after a consecutive double hat-trick from Erling Haaland seemed to flicker as the team failed to surmount an otherwise easy-walkthrough Aston Villa. Aston Villa, on their part, showed great grit after standing up and strong against a league-contending Man City. Aston Villa’s goal was scored by Leon Bailey while Erling Haaland scored City’s lone goal.

Liverpool Draw Everton

As if one giant slumping was not enough, Jurgen Klopp’s men failed to complete the job as Liverpool drew 0-0 with Everton. Liverpool seemed a little shocked at their own failure to bring out the big guns, but Everton were keener to gain an upper hand. Even so, they had to settle with retaining a single point after VAR denied them a winning goal. All in all, Liverpool can do much better.

Tottenham Beat Fulham

Antonio Conte’s men, on the other hand, came through and handed Fulham a 2-1 beating. Fulham put on a really good resistance but a Tottenham on fire was too much for them to handle. Tottenham’s goals were scored by Pierre-Emile Hojberg and Harry Kane. Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic made the lone reply for Fulham.

Bournemouth Edge Past Nottingham Forest

In what was a battle of the newcomers, Bournemouth beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 in what was a thrilling match to watch. Bournemouth fought to take the win against a Nottm Forest that seems to be knowing what it’s doing. Despite a folly start to their first season after promotion to the Premier League, Nottingham Forest seem to be catching the drift and getting better with each game.

Chelsea Narrowly Edges Past West Ham

Now without a coach after sacking Thomas Tuchel, the Blues narrowly beat West Ham 2-1. Chelsea were a very strong team last season but it now seems that this season will be murky for them, to say the least. Chelsea’s goals were scored by Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell. West Ham’s goal came from Michail Antonio.

Chelsea Sacks Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea, after losing a UEFA Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb 0-1, sacked their manager Thomas Tuchel. Tactical Tuchel failed to bring out the best from his boys and Stamford Bridge wasn’t having it. Who is to replace Tuchel is still a question up in the air and we can’t wait to see who Chelsea’s management chooses.

Brentford F.C Shines on Leeds United

‘The Bees’ Brentford F.C shone on Leeds United after thrashing them 5-2 in a game that was proof that Brentford are in the EPL to stay. Leeds did, however, put together a worthy resistance but Brentford were the better team during the game. Brentford’s goals included a brace from Ivan Toney and goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. Marc Roca and Luis Sinisterra Scored for Leeds.

Brighton Pulls a Shock Win against Leicester City

EPL 2022/23 Gameweek 6 didn’t let us down as Brighton pulled a shock 5-2 win against Leicester City. Leicester have been tumbling for a while now and Brighton didn’t find that a valid reason to pull any punches. As such, Brighton pushed forward decidedly and Leicester was left with too little too late and could do nothing but accept the defeat.

Wolves Beat Southampton

Wolves did a solid for themselves after they beat a flailing Southampton 1-0. Wolves aren’t in a good place but the win confirms that they still have the pizzazz, if only they are willing to let it out. Southampton, on the other hand, probably need a shot in the arm to really have an impact on the EPL table so far, this season.

Newcastle Draw Crystal Palace

Another of the non-scorers, Newcastle drew Crystal 0-0 after both teams tried all their tricks but failed to bring a goal to the back of the net. Both teams are in a weird place right now but they still have the potential to end up in the top ten of the English Premier League Standings; if only they bring their A-game.

EPL Standings

The Bottom 5 in the EPL Standings So Far
