Manchester United drew Chelsea 1-1 as the race for the English Premier League top four intensifies. United came from behind to equalize and got a point largely thanks to the wonderful goalkeeping of their keeper David De Gea and CR7. Man United’s goal was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, a comeback after a goal from Marcos Alonso for Chelsea.

De Gea is Back

We had reported that David De Gea seem deflated in a game in the last few weeks but he now seems to be back to form and top morale. De Gea is a wonderful goalkeeper and to see him shine and flourish gives us all something to like Manchester United about. De Gea has been crucial to United’s success for some years now and remains a top goalkeeper in the English Premier League.

Chelsea’s Decent Effort

Chelsea made a decent effort in their game against Man United. They went for goals and made numerous shots on target. Even more, their defense was well manned and their keeper Mendy did a good job of wading off United’s attempts at goal. All is not lost for Thomas Tuchel after dropping out of the Champions League and Chelsea retain a good chance of ending up in the top four of the EPL this season.

Let’s Give United What they are Due

Manchester United, undoubtedly made a decent effort while going head-to-head with Chelsea and they deserve applause for that. Were it a few years back, Manchester United vs Chelsea would have been a title decider but gone are those days. Even so, United stepped up and tried to keep their top-four hopes alive. CR7 didn’t disappoint either and put one behind the net to ensure United at least walk away with a point. His goal was his 17th Premier League goal this season.

EPL Table

Chelsea remained third in the EPL table with 66 points while Manchester United remain sixth with 55 points. United may not really stand a chance of getting back to the top four and could end up with a season that will go down in history as one of their worst.
