Is Arsenal Going to Win the EPL this Season? - EPL 22-23 GW 20 Results

Arsenal FC have been bringing the heat real bad this season and as we enter the second half of Premier League 22-23, teams are becoming warier of an ever-stronger Arsenal. As a result, we ask the question is Arsenal going to win the Premier League this season?

Is Arsenal Going to Win the EPL this Season?

A very likely yes. Hold on. Listen. Arsenal did what all other teams failed to do. They started this EPL season on a very high note and were consistent with their momentum.

I know this sounds very cliche but they actually did themselves a huge favor by starting out EPL 22/23 on a high note and continually improving their gameplay while ensuring they minimize their losses. From a strategic standpoint, this was the silver bullet that has now brought us to the point where we are asking if Arsenal could win the league.

Very Strategic Signings for Arsenal

Another thing that Arsenal did pretty well was to make very strategic signings in the last transfer window, chief of which was signing former Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus. Jesus and the other signing (Marquinhos and Matt Turner) came to complete arsenal's arsenal [pun intended ;)] and that gave them an edge over the other teams. Yes, you could argue that Man City did the same by signing Erling Haaland and you're probably right; but for a team like Arsenal, that was lacking a dependable forward, that was a golden decision.

Arsenal's Strengthening of their Ranks

Arsenal also did themselves one better and strengthened their ranks by ensuring that players like Saka, Tierney, and Nketiah, among others, are at their best. By ensuring that the body of the team is strong and well-footed, all Arsenal had to do was add icing to the cake, so to speak, and sign a forward like as Jesus.

Why are Arsenal So Good this Season?

Arsenal have become very good.. first due to their spectacular start to EPL 2022/23, their consistency, signing strategic players, strengthening their ranks, and following Mikel Arteta's game plan to the letter. Arsenal, we must say, have become very good under Mikel Arteta and we should give him credit for turning the club around. Arteta has made some decisions we have disagreed with in the past, like pushing Aubameyang away, but it seems his plan was long term and it is now working.

Gameweek 20 of 38 of the Premier League this season kicked off with Aston Villa going head-to-head with Leeds. Villa won 2-1. This was also the week where Man United crushed City in the Manchester Derby. United won the game 2-1 despite a controversial but solid goal from Marcus Rashford. Read more below.

Wolves beat West Ham 1-0 as Nottingham Forest beat Leicester 2-0; a great victory for Nottm if you ask me. Southampton beat Everton 2-1, Brentford beat Bournemouth 2-0, and Newcastle beat Fulham 1-0. Newcastle have avoided conceding goals so well this season, having only conceded 11 goals so far.

Brighton Nicks Liverpool

I've been waiting a while to lament how bad Liverpool have become of late. No offense to Klopp but Liverpool is quickly becoming a sh*t team. Again, no offense but what the heck is going on in Liverpool? I was even arguing with a friend telling them that Liverpool made a grave mistake to sell off Sadio Mane.

Chelsea Pull a Mere One on Crystal Palace

Another case of 'what happened?', Chelsea only managed to get one past Crystal Palace's net. Chelsea have also been on a downward spiral and we can't quite pinpoint the reason why. A good theory though is that they have a floundering manager, Graham Potter, who's done an impeccable job of letting the club down.

The #PotterOut Movement on Twitter

As a result, Twitter has been a wash with the hashtag #PotterOut, similar to the #GlazersOut movement. The club's new owner, Todd Boehly, has had quite the rough patch being ridiculed for appointing Potter as Chelsea's coach.

Arsenal Overpower Tottenham

Arsenal, on their part, did what we now expect to keep doing more often and overpowered Tottenham 2-0. They played a strong game, and further added 3 points to their EPL Standings lead. Tottenham, in turn, could have done much better if they slipped out of the stutter they are in. Spurs are a strong team with a very strong manager, and there is no reason they should be conceding two goals without a reply.

EPL Standings

The 2022/23 EPL Table is something of a mishmash of results. The usual top four are floundering with teams like Chelsea and Liverpool almost slipping off the top ten.

EPL Table

Arsenal is at number one with 47 points, a very good performance thus far.

Pep's boys, Manchester City are second with 39 points, followed by a surprisingly somewhat-strong Manchester United, who reclaimed the third spot (after a slight drop to fourth), now also with 39 points. A very impressive Newcastle is fourth with 38 points, bravo. In fifth place is Tottenham with 33 points, not so bad but they could definitely do better.

In sixth place is Fulham with 31 points, followed by Brighton who are 7th with 30 points. In eighth place are Brentford with 29 points. Liverpool come in a stark ninth with just 28 points, a 19-point difference from standings lead Arsenal. In tenth place is Chelsea with 28 points. I can't remember the last time Chelsea was tenth in the EPL table. What a potter pity!
