Hat-Trick for Firmino and a Goal Each for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as Liverpool Hammers Watford 5-0

Liverpool have proven yet again how great they are after a hat-trick for Firmino and a goal each for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as they hammered Watford 5-0 in Vicarage Road. The game was Watford’s first under Claudio Ranieri. Saturday’s game was a thrill to watch as Liverpool’s strikers opened up Watford’s defense time and again to cement their leadership in the league.

Jurgen Klopp has shown yet again why he is one of the best managers, if not the best manager in football. He had this week been complaining about football associations and leagues not catering enough to players’ welfare. However, today’s win was yet another impressive show of his and Liverpool’s grit and prowess. He lauded Mo’ Salah’s mastery of the game, saying that he was one of the top players in football and English football at the moment.

The Inactivated Soldier (Firmino) Comes In Hard

Firmino has always been Liverpool’s somewhat inactivated soldier and his hat trick today reminds us of his potential. He is a Brazilian forward who will not only have an immense impact in Liverpool but also on his national team, Brazil. Sadio Mane, on the other hand, is a fully active soldier in every game and no game is really good if he hasn’t seen the back of the net. Mohammed Salah is, without saying, the ace in Klopp’s hands, and his quality is just on another level. He is undoubtedly in his prime and with him at the front, this season of the EPL and even the UEFA Champions League are Liverpool’s to lose.

The EPL 2021/22 Table Heating Up

The 2021/22 season of the English Premier League is looking to intensify with heated competition at the top of the league table. As things stand, Chelsea are on top of the EPL standings with 19 points, followed by Liverpool that are second with 18 points. Manchester City are third with 17 points, with Brighton fourth with 15 points.

Man United Falls to Fifth in the EPL Table

Manchester United has fallen to fifth place with 14 points, after losing 4-2 to Leicester City. Man United is currently at what we would call a transition point as the squad adjusts to its new star power with the recent signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the team could be curtailed by the insistence and persistence of its leadership to keep Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager. It is no surprise, therefore, that #OleOut has been trending in recent weeks and some would argue, months. Should Manchester United Sack their Manager? Let us know in the comments.

Other EPL Matchweek 8 Results - EPL 2021-22

In other matchweek 8 games on Saturday, Wolves beat Aston Villa 3-2, Manchester City beat Burnley 2-0, and Norwich drew 0-0 with Brighton. Southampton came from behind to beat Leeds 1-0 similar to Chelsea who beat Brentford 1-0. Man City and Chelsea’s performances were somewhat dismal as fans expected Man City to clamor Burnley at least 4 or 5 goals. Chelsea, on the other hand, was expected to do a better job against Brentford. The 1-0 result, however, is another indicator that Brentford really deserved their promotion to the EPL and are a team to look out for.

New Financing for Newcastle United

The weeks leading up to gameweek 8 have been quite eventful, with an international break and the recent purchase of Newcastle United by Arab investors. In the words of Jurgen Klopp, Newcastle is set to become a ‘superpower’ in English football as it will now have the finances to invest in its squad, their training, and improving their quality of play. However, as Klopp attested, it will take time for the club to feel the impact of the new owners in terms of its quality and results. All teams need adequate time and investment to improve their game and we are excited to see what the new backing does for Newcastle United.
