It is also crucial that Chelsea take this time to really vet their next appointee as the club's coach and end the endless cycle of managers being appointed and then sacked. By doing this, the club can position itself for future success and better decision-making on and off the pitch. Moreover, by appointing the right manager, Chelsea can get back to its rightful place in the Premier League, the top four.

In the meantime, Chelsea is reported to be in talks with several candidates for the position of club manager. Why is Chelsea Taking On Lampard as Caretaker Coach?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are taking on Lampard as caretaker coach since the current caretaker coach Bruno Saltor isn't so keen on the job. Saltor is also very close to Graham Potter and is himself in a crisis of loyalties. Mind you, Graham Potter was the coach that Chelsea wanted to steer the team's long-term plans, and they invested a lot of money in him but it just didn't work out. Read more about Graham Potter's sacking below.

As such, Chelsea are opting to take their time to find the best permanent coach and are bringing in Lampard as a way to kind of culture shock the players, and also prepare them mentally for a new permanent manager.
