Cristiano Ronaldo Scores His First Goal After a 6-Game Drought

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal after a six-game drought when Manchester United beat Brighton 2-0 this week. Ronaldo had gone six games without scoring but went on to help propel Manchester United to the top four of the English Premier League.

The game was played after being postponed and was a gameweek 18 game. The league is currently in gameweek 26 and gameweek 25 games were played over the weekend. The league has had to postpone some matches due to COVID-19 concerns and players getting infected with the virus.

EPL Gameweek 25 Results

In gameweek 25, Manchester United drew 1-1 with Southampton, Brighton beat Watford 2-0, and Everton beat Leeds United 3-0. Manchester City, on their part, beat Norwich City 4-0 as Wolves beat Tottenham 2-0. Newcastle beat Aston Villa 1-0 similar to Liverpool who beat Burnley 1-0. Leicester City and West Ham drew 2-2.

Dismal Performances from Giants

Gameweek 25 was sort of a slump for the big teams with Tottenham edged by Wolves, Liverpool barely edging Burnley, and Leicester drawing with West Ham. The giants performed dismally, to say the least, and that could be the tell-tale of their fatigue and the toll that international engagements took on the players. Even so, the league still has enough games for teams that are serious to correct their mistakes and position themselves in the top four.

EPL Standings

Manchester City is currently top of the EPL table with 63 points, followed by Liverpool with 54 points, and Chelsea with 47 points. Manchester United are currently a distant fourth with 43 points, followed by West Ham who are fifth with 41 points. West Ham have really pulled up their socks. Arsenal is sixth with 39 points, followed by a well-performing Wolves who are seventh with 37 points.

Tottenham, slumping as they may be, are eighth with 36 points, followed by an improved Brighton who are ninth with 33 points. In tenth place is Southampton who have 29 points.
