Cristiano Ronaldo and Lukaku Score Braces in Their Debuts as Mohammed Salah Becomes a Centurion

Gameweek 4 of the English Premier League was nothing short of stardust as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lukaku scored braces in their EPL debuts with Mohammed Salah scoring his 100th EPL goal. The weekend was fiery and football dominated the airwaves. England was roaring with a boost of fresh star power and the fans were having nothing short of a ball. Manchester United fans were especially excited to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, in his second debut for the club.

Donning the coveted number 7 jersey, CR7 came out and did justice to the club, scoring a statement brace in his first game. Lukaku, on the other hand, reminded Chelsea fans why they needed him after also scoring a brace in his second debut for the club. To top of all the action, Mohammed Salah underlined his role in Liverpool and made a stellar show of his prowess by scoring his 100th English Premier Goal.

A Hero's Welcome for CR7 in Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo came back to a hero’s welcome in Manchester United bringing Old Trafford to a roar after scoring a brace in Man United’s 4-1 win against Newcastle United. Man United beat Newcastle United 4-1 with 2 goals from CR7, one from Bruno Fernandez, and another from Jesse Lingard. On the other hand, Javier Manquillo scored Newcastle’s only goal. Ronaldo opened the scoreboard with his first goal in the first stoppage time after Newcastle’s goalkeeper Freddie Woodman let loose a shot from Mason Greenwood.

Newcastle were not dissuaded and replied with a goal from Manquillo in the 56th minute following an impressive counter-attack. Manquillo was assisted by Allan Saint-Maximin. Six minutes later, Ronaldo reaffirmed his stance with a second goal assisted by Luke Shaw. Ronaldo’s first was a tap-in while the second was a powerful shot that Woodman could not withhold.

Man United One of the Teams to Beat in EPL 2021-22

Manchester United are definitely one of the teams to beat this season. With a brace from Ronaldo in gameweek 4, you can do the math and predict that Cristiano could score nearly 30 goals this season for the club. With a striker like that and an attacking force comprising stars such as Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford, Manchester United are definitely gunning for the top spot.

Man United also have the advantage of experienced players such as Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, who together with a decent defense led by Harry Maguire, could make Gunnar Ole Solksjaer look good. Even so, Liverpool are showing that they are regaining their inspiration and could as well mount a formidable campaign this season. To add even more flame to the fire, Chelsea with the power of Lukaku, and Manchester City with its tried and tested squad are slated to also mount formidable campaigns.

All in all, this season will be one for the books and we can’t wait to see how it pans out. In the UEFA Champions League, Cristiano scored Manchester United’s only goal in the thirteenth minute of their game against Young Boys. Unfortunately, this was not enough and Man United suffered a 2-0 loss against Young Boys. The game was CR7’s majorly anticipated return on the European stage and ended up a little disappointing for him, Manchester United, and the club’s fans.

Powerful Display by Lukaku on His Return to Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea with a powerful display after scoring a brace in their 3-0 win against Aston Villa. As Old Trafford was going mad, Stamford Bridge was not left behind and Chelsea fans have been invigorated with new hope. Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel are no team to ignore and are one of the main title contenders this season. Lukaku instigated the action in Saturday’s game in the fifteenth minute after getting hold of a through-ball from Mateo Kovacic.

Aston Villa’s goalkeeper, Jed Steer, was no match and recognized Lukaku’s fire. Edouard Mendy, on the other hand, proved his goalkeeping prowess after saving shots from Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings. Mings made a fluke during a back pass in the 49th minute, handing Kovacic enough to score Chelsea’s second goal. During stoppage time, Lukaku came back to stamp his return to the club with his second goal for Chelsea. Saturday’s win crowned Chelsea as the only club, apart from Manchester United, to win 600 English Premier League games or victories.

Salah Becomes a Centurion

Liverpool were not left behind on the action with a 3-0 win against Leeds United. To compound his role in the club, Mohammed Salah scored his 100th English Premier League goal during the away game in Elland Road. Salah got hold of his century in the 20th minute after a low cross from Trent-Alexander Arnold. The goal that made Salah a centurion was his first shot of the game showing that he meant business. During the 50th minute, Fabinho converted a header from Virgil Van Dijk to make the game 2-0.

Aston Villa were further weakened 10 minutes later after Pascal Struijk was shown a red card after fouling Harvey Elliot who had to be carried out of the game on a stretcher. Liverpool did not let off and during stoppage time Sadio Mane put one across the net ending the game 3-0. We hope Elliot will be able to recover from his injury sooner rather than later and make a stance to advocate for fair play. We condemn foul play in the strongest terms possible as we do condemn racism. The game is only as sweet as the comradery and love it possesses on and off the pitch.
