Canon EOS 4000D Camera Review: Is the Canon EOS 4000D Good for Beginners?

The Canon EOS 4000D is a good enough camera. Still, it does not really meet the standards for allowing a photographer the capacity and ability to really have a camera that will meet their professional needs.

The Canon EOS 4000D, also known as Rebel T100, is a beginner-level camera, mainly a contender due to its low pricing. However, it is unideal for beginners who are looking for a camera to use for vlogging and learn how to utilize a camera for video production effectively. EOS stands for the electro-optical system in Canon Cameras. The Canon EOS 4000D comes with a standard battery, and a charger and requires a mini USB data cable to connect to a computer.

How Old is the Canon EOS 4000D?

The Canon EOS 4000D was released in February 2018. The camera has been around for about three years at the time of writing this blog post. It is by far the cheapest DSLR by Canon. A DSLR is a digital single-lens reflex camera. A DSLR combines both the mechanisms and optics of a single-lens reflex camera with a digital sensor.

As such, a DSLR has the ability to allow interchangeable lenses on the same camera body. The ability to interchange lenses is crucial, especially when you consider that the Canon EOS 4000D, with its standard 18-55mm kit, does not have the option of image stabilization. One can, however, interchange the standard lens with one that has image stabilization.

Is Canon 4000D a Professional Camera?

The Canon EOS 4000D is not a professional camera. It lacks adequate capacity in terms of useful features such as image stabilization, microphone input, flip and touch screen capabilities, and a high-capacity lens system. The Canon EOS 4000D uses the APS-C sensor (22 x 14.9mm), which is a CMOS sensor. The camera also uses a DIGIC 4+ image processor, which allows an ISO range of 100-6400. ISO stands for a camera's sensitivity to light.

Is Canon EOS 4000D a Good Camera?

The Canon EOS 4000D is a good enough camera. Still, it does not really meet the standards for allowing a photographer the capacity and ability to really have a camera that will meet their professional needs. For instance, the camera lacks a microphone input or a 3.5mm jack input for a microphone, which can be costly, especially when looking for a camera for vlogging. The Canon EOS 4000D also does not have a flip screen.

To take a video using the camera, you either have to connect it to a computer using a data cable or have someone else behind the camera taking the video. This is very cumbersome in my experience as if you have the camera connected to a laptop, then you cannot easily move it. Moreover, it would be tough to take a video of yourself, like you would a selfie, when on the move using the camera. For this reason, and many others, the Canon EOS 4000D is a below-average camera and, therefore, not so good.

What is the Best Camera to Buy for a Beginner Photographer?

A Nikon D3400 or Nikon D3500 are far better options for a beginner photographer. They come with all the necessary features to make the camera a better tool for both photography and taking videos or vlogging. Beyond these two, one can also purchase older Canon models such as the Canon EOS 2000D or Canon 80D, which still pack above-average capabilities despite being a little older.

My personal recommendations are the Canon EOS M50 or the Canon PowerShot GX7 Mark II in terms of vlogging. These are mirrorless cameras and are perfect for vlogging. They are also less bulky and come in small and lightweight bodies, making them easy to carry and pack. The Canon M50 and the Canon GX7 Mark 2 also come with a 3.5mm jack microphone input and a flip screen. To top it all off, they have flip touchscreens making it easier to use the screens and set the perfect settings for your photography or vlogging session.

Is Canon EOS 4000D 4k?

The Canon EOS 4000D is not 4K. It is 1080p and produces what I would call average videos. The Canon EOS 4000D also has a shortcoming with its 9-point viewfinder, where only the central point will mostly swing into action when you are trying to focus your image.

The unfortunate thing is that in low light, the camera's viewfinder and its limitations blur the edges creating a grainy picture or video on the edges. The Canon M50 is 4K, however, and comes loaded with impeccable features. It is arguably, the best vlogging camera. On the other hand, the Canon GX7 Mark II shoots UHD or ultra high-definition 4K videos. Superb.

Which is Better Canon 2000D or 4000D?

The Canon 2000D, also known as the Rebel T7, is a better camera than the Canon EOS 4000D. Despite being an older model, it still packs a stable and well-thought-out set of features. The Canon EOS 2000D, for starters, has a higher ISO than goes up to 128,000. It uses a more complex Canon EF-S lens system. It also has the capacity to capture 60fps HD video or 60 frames per second 1080p video, as compared to the Canon EOS 4000D, which only captures video at a maximum of 24fps.

The Canon EOS 2000D may not be the camera to buy in 2021 as it shares in some of the misgivings of the 4000D such as in a low continuous shooting speed of only 3fps. The Canon EOS 2000D only comes with WiFi and NFC while lacking Bluetooth connectivity. NFC stands for near-field communication, which is a technology that allows one to share data with devices that are close to each other. NFC is not really something that someone will use in the real world as fewer phones and gadgets, in recent years, come with the technology in-built.

Is the Canon EOS 4000D Good?

The Canon EOS 4000D is, in the real world, below average, and its highest selling point is only the bargain one would get due to its low pricing. The camera struggles when it comes to continuous video shooting with only a speed of 3.0 fps. This figure is 2.5fps slower than the DSLR average.

Many of the features that one would expect in a DSLR are lacking in the Canon EOS 4000D as there needed to be compromises in quality and features to allow for a lower price point. The camera also comes with a plastic body and a plastic lens mount that are far less durable than a metallic body and metallic lens mount cameras.

Does the Canon 4000D have WIFI?

The Canon EOS 4000D has Wi-Fi connectivity but lacks Bluetooth or NFC connectivity.

Does the Canon EOS 4000D have a Flash?

The Canon EOS 4000D comes with an inbuilt flash that needs to be flipped open at the top of the camera to be used. The camera requires that one does not have anything mounted on top of the camera on the light or microphone mount to use the flash. The flash is also a basic flash that is not really super flexible in terms of operability as it refuses to function after a few shots to allow for it to recharge. Therefore, if you need a flash for constant photos, then it will be unideal. The flash also does not pop up automatically, making it necessary always to flip it open to use it, another limitation.

What is a Good Canon Camera to Start With?

Good Canon cameras come with a high price, and a good Canon camera to start with could either be the newer Canon 850D, also known as the Rebel T8i, or an older version such as the Canon 80D, released in 2016. Other options include older cameras such as the Canon 800D, also known as the Rebel T7i, released in 2017. An all-around good camera for a beginner is either the Nikon D3500 or the Nikon D3400.

These two are interchangeable as the D3500 is the successor of the D3400. However, if one is interested in vlogging or making videos, I highly recommend the Canon M50 or the Canon GX7 Mark 2. These two are mirrorless, which is the latest camera technology, unlike the Canon EOS 4000D, which has a literal mirror that could easily break once dropped. A mirrorless camera has no physical mirror and uses digital technology to capture the image.

Is the Canon EOS 4000D Good for Beginners?

The Canon EOS 4000D is not the best camera for a beginner and would only suffice as the best option for its low price. Therefore, it could be your camera of choice if you are on a low budget. I would, however, advise you to go for the Nikon D3500 or the Canon M50 if you are keen to use your new camera for vlogging. However, if you are on a budget, then you could resort to the Canon EOS 4000D. A get-around would be to purchase an older model such as the Canon 80D or the Canon 2000D.
